President:

Valerie Weingart

My name is Valerie Weingart, and this will be my second year as President of Student Honors Council. I'm a senior Vocal Performance and Creative Writing double major from Salem, Ohio. Since I live so close to Cedar Point Amusement Park, I've grown up loving all kinds of roller coasters and thrill rides—I think I've been to Cedar Point over 60 times! It's so exciting to return to the SHC executive board for another great year of new ideas, activities, and events for Honors College students, faculty, and families. Student Honors Council is always changing and evolving. I love the diversity of events that take place throughout SHC's year, from the Homecoming Parade to the Season of Giving Charity Dance to the Curriculum Exhibition. There are so many opportunities in SHC for any kind of student, and I can't wait to meet this year's members. What new traditions can we create this year?

Director of Records:

Brooke Mayer

My name is Brooke Mayer and this will be my second year as the Director of Records for SHC. I am a Psychology major with minors in Religious Studies and Interpersonal Relations. This is my third year at Ball State and in SHC, but I am graduating in the spring. Therefore, even though it's strange to say, calling myself anything but a senior seems dishonest. I am also excited to be leading a bible study in Dehority through Campus Crusade this upcoming year. In addition to SHC and Cru I am on the Merchandise committee for Dance Marathon and can't wait for another year of miracles FTK (For The Kids) of Riley Children's Hospital. Ever since Middle School I have loved to be very involved and to keep myself busy, but SHC was really the only place my freshman year that I really felt plugged in and involved. Everyone deserves that opportunity and I hope to do my best to continue that welcoming, engaging, and worthwhile atmosphere in SHC this year.

Director of Online Promotions:

Alyssa Larsen

My name is Alyssa Larsen, and I am a junior this year at Ball State. My major is Social studies education and I also have a Spanish minor! I am from a small town in Michigan, although I now have an apartment in Muncie! This is my third year in Student Honors Council, and I am so excited to be taking on the role of online promotions director! I run the website, facebook, instagram, and twitter, so give us a follow! I enjoy reading, cooking, ice cream, netflix, and traveling. I am also an honors peer mentor, an undergraduate teaching assistant for HIST 150, and a hostess at the Muncie Olive Garden! I am passionate about SHC and the honors college, and I'm so excited to meet our new members this year! Get ready for a great year!

Jamie Brimbury

.

Hi! My name is Jamie Brimbury and I will be the Director of Awards + Member Appreciation for SHC this year! I am a sophomore majoring in Psychology with minors in Spanish and Autism Spectrum Disorders! I am from Fishers, IN, just north of Indy! My hobbies include reading, watching cheesy rom-com movies, and pinteresting! I love SHC because it feels like my family away from home and allows so many opportunities to meet new friends! I'm so excited to get to know all the new members!

Vice President:

Joe Hannon

My name is Joe Hannon, and I’m a junior Biochemistry/Pre-Med major from Elkhart, Indiana. I am honored and excited to serve a second year in a row as SHC’s vice president. While at Ball State, I have been involved in Delaware County Ultimate, an Ultimate Frisbee league near campus, I was an RA in Howick/Williams hall in Noyer, and am a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, one of the fraternities on campus. My favorite thing about SHC is the atmosphere. SHC is full of fun and fantastic honors students of all types that really come together and bond to plan some rad honors events.

Director of Service:

Maren Orchard

My name is Maren Orchard, and I am a junior Public History and Women and Gender Studies double major. I was born in Muncie and commuted to Ball State my freshman year. Since then, I have moved into a house just off campus. I am particularly interested in helping honors commuters adjust and fit in with the Honors community because SHC and the Honors College have made my experience at Ball State so rewarding- including research, travel, conferences, and long-lasting friendships! In the Honors College, I also work as a Peer Mentor and an Undergraduate Research Fellow, but in my free time I enjoy going on coffee dates, watching movies, reading, laughing, and traveling!

Director of Print Promotions:

Emily Cade

My name is Emily Cade, and I'm a sophomore Elementary Education Major with a license in Gifted and Talented Education from Peru, Indiana (kind of--I'm not sure you  could really call my country house a part of any town!). This will be my second year in SHC and my first as Director of Print Promotions--I'm absolutely ecstatic about both! Along with SHC, I am Vice President of Education in Action and a member of the Recruitment Committee for Ball State's Dance Marathon so feel free to ask me about either! I also work at the DeHority front desk (too early in the morning to see most) and as a Hall Ambassador for the hall, as well. I love being a part of the Honors College and being a part of SHC makes me feel so connected to some of the wonderful honors students that I may not have met otherwise. I can't wait to meet all of our new members!
